Old Photographs

A friend & I were talking about photography this morning. Lenses...Fisheye(kind of the bomb), Macro, Wide Angle, etc.   I get kind of excited when I talk about it. I kind of see life through a viewfinder.  Not that I'm a great photographer, or even have have a great camera...but it is cool, when you get that great shot.  Maybe you had to set it up & work for it, or maybe you just caught it by chance.

Since I'm on the photography kick:

Collecting old photographs, is something I like to do. Mostly I have photos from the 1800's.  The Civil War era intrigues me. If I could time travel, I'd visit that time. Old photos are neat to look at, & often I find myself wondering about the people's lives in them.  These are a few of my favorites.

What did they like to do? Did they have a happy life, a hard life? What was their story?

Colors

We were out & about this weekend & I was glad for a break in the rain!  I was noticing the trees starting to change shades.  India found this cool leaf in front of our place.  I was thinking about all the beautiful little things that God has made on this earth, & I was thinking I don't want to get so caught up in my busy days that I fail to notice things like this.

In The Works

Organized Chaos?

I've been working on some creations, & my art desk is in need of a clean up!  Trying to do a Thanksgiving themed collage...just getting some ideas in my head.  I just finished a picture with stenciling, for the High School Room at church.  Here are a few things my hands have been busy with.

On My Windowsill

Made this for the High School Room.  These are part of the lyrics from the song "How He Loves Us" by David Crowder Band.

What's with my title, you might ask.

So I was going to name this little blog experiment of mine, On The Fringe...but I guess that name was taken.  I thought it was perfect cause often I feel on the fringe of groups, people, etc. (I'm ok with that, by the way).  Also, fringe happens to be an awesome embellishment, when you are creating something, it adds that special touch. It's like the cherry on top.

My next blog name choice was Modern Day Pippi. I have fond memories of those crazy Pippi movies from childhood. She had a cool monkey that wore sweaters, & two obnoxious Swedish friends(Tommy & Annika). I liked her wild red-headed braids & striped knee socks. Apparently, the name wasn't meant to be, someone else beat me to it.

Which brings me to the Patchouli thing. If you know what it is, you probably either love the smell of it, or thouroughly dislike it.  Most people aren't middle of the rode on their Patchouli stance. Ha ha. It is a bit woodsy, & earthy & I love it. I've heard people say it reminds them of dirty hippies.  I kind of like to fancy myself as a little Bohemian, a little Hippieish(minus the armpit hair).  So there you go...And She Wore Patchouli.

Happy Fall To You All!

Hi There,

Thought I'd try my hand at blogging...hey, it never hurts to try!  So as much as I am a Summer person, I do love the Fall with all it's colorful leaves & trees. There is a different feel in the air. Also, I have this thing for Halloween.  I love it, & all the decorations(not the gross & gory ones though).  Here are a few Fallish things from my casa.
