August Skies

Enjoying the last of Summer here. Wow, we did alot these last few months, & it went by too fast! School is starting back up next week & I have yet to do the whole school supply shopping spree. I was glad to hear my neighbor tell me she hasn't done it yet either...I felt a little better.
So Richard's car hasn't been working lately, & I have been driving him to & from work.  I am not minding it, in a way kind of liking it.  It makes me feel kind like a good little wife, meeting him at work(kids in tow), asking him how his day was :)

Pretty, slighty stormy looking skies on the way back to our house.

This is a girl I made yesterday.  A painting/collage on wood.  My girls say she looks like an Indian Viking...

Maureen

Hello.  I made this new clay art doll yesterday.  Her name is Maureen, & as you can see she has a bit of that melancholy look about her.  I have been inspired to make some new quirky charectors by seeing the movie Paranorman with my kids...love the charectors/art in it.  Darn it, I should have gone to school so I could do something in claymation film making!  Also, excited that Tim Burton's new film Frankinweenie is coming out soon.  But anyway, I'm getting off course...hope to make some more clay peeps for Fall soon.

Pocket Coffin

I am enjoying the last few weeks of summer, but have been making some things to get a jump start on the Fall holidays.  I love Halloweenie decorations & Day of the Dead stuff....so here are a few things for Dia de los Muertos.  I used my daughter India as my little creepy/pretty model.

Red Rocks, Crystals & Good Juju

Hello.  We have been home a couple days, back from our trip to a truly lovely(& hot) place...Sedona, AZ.  The landscape there is so pretty, no wonder so many people are drawn to it.  I guess the place/rocks is said to have special powers.  My daughter Sage is really into rocks & minerals right now, so we visited quite a few rock shops.  Apparently different rocks help you with different issues.  Feeling lazy...you need such & such rock.  Too high strung?....then you need this rock.  Interesting, though I don't really buy into it....they sure are pretty though!  Ha ha, I am imagining the giant pile of rocks & crystals I would need for all my little quirks :)

About an hour away from Sedona, the town of Jerome.

A local of Jerome, this dog joined us for lunch.

India's new fan....she took it with her everywhere.

The skunks come out at night. Got to watch where you walk when it's dark!

Corn Husker State

Greetings.  We are back from our trek to Nebraska.  I survived the plane ride I was so dreading! Had a good time visiting our friends, & Sage now has her first plane ride under her belt.  I was pleasantly surprised they had a lot of cool places to eat, a lot of Vegan options(in Nebraska?)...more than I remember, when I was there a few years ago.  My friend Jennifer was making fun of me because I asked if they had Thai food there.  They do, by the way :)

Here are some of our photos....

Just a little thing I made, since being back....little clay girl in a tin container.  Hope to get more art out soon, but we are leaving tomorrow, to go camping in Sedona, Arizona.  I'm sure I will get a lot of inspiration for some new pieces there....it's one of my favorite places.
