Broccoli Tales

Usually when we get in the car to go someplace, India sits in the back of the van, & fires off her daily barrage of questions.  She usually has some good ones.
For some reason, she always asks me about shows I watched when I was little, & if they were in black & white. I tell her they were in color, but she never seems convinced. I'm pretty sure she thinks I was young when cavemen roamed the earth.
Today, on the way to the store she said, "Mama, was broccoli alive when you were little?"  Pretty cute. I think she is picturing me as a little girl, living in a colorless, vegetable-less world

Spring Feeling(or Wishing)

This picture I took the other day, reminds me of Spring, & I guess I am longing for it a little.  Especially now, since I am bundled up inside my house, trying to be warm.  It's not like it is snowing here or anything...it doesn't where we live...I  guess I am just not a cold weather kind of girl.

Here is India, with the sun in her eyes, wind in her hair.

February 26th(today), is little Cody's 2nd birthday. He is not a baby anymore, he even throws himself to the ground, when he's mad, like a full-fledged 2 year old (it's kind of funny to watch). Happy birthday Cody!

Not A Ghost In Sight

One of the places we went to this past weekend was Calico.  It's a ghost town out near Barstow, Ca.  India (my middle kiddo), was a little concerned about the name "ghost town", & I had to reassure her that is would be alright to visit there.  We actually went, because my brother wanted to go there for his birthday, so we met him & my parents there.  We all ended up having fun, & my kids liked it....except for an old mining tunnel you can go in, with fake mannequin miners(slightly creepy).  The best part was it was Civil War reenactment day.  I think I've mentioned my nerdy love of history, & the Civil War before, so that made my day!

Made of Clay

These are two of my girls, I made recently.  There is something enjoyable(maybe cathartic) for me, about getting a block of clay, & squeezing  & squishing it in my hands.  Seeing what form it takes, & turning it into something  fun.  After they were molded & cooked in my oven, I used pencil, acrylic & watercolors to finish them off.

V Day

Our pink cupcakes are all baked & frosted.  I was feeling a bit like Martha Stewart, even though they came from a box.  We've enjoyed our Valentines meal....Cheesecake Factory take out. That was our hot date tonight(with 3 kids).  Now what?  I guess just sit & enjoy each others company.  Happy Valentine's Day to you & yours!

Sickies and Chickies

I am thinking I am rather clever right now, with my title.  This whole week, actually some of last week too, one or more of us has had some kind of malady going on.  Yesterday, the kids finally brought me down with all their lovely germs, & I was in bed all day.
One of my sick girls, asleep in the sun.
This morning most of us were feeling better, and we decided to venture out to the bookstore.  I was looking in the art & photography section, when I heard this older lady near me ask her husband if she could get another chicken book.  It must be fate, I tell ya....chicken people keep coming my way(the other day at church, I met someone who has them too).  Anyway, I went over to her & we started talking about the book she had in her hands, & she told me a little about her chickens, & coop in her backyard.  She told me what I keep hearing....they make great pets.

Ok, so I live in a condo with a micro-sized back yard, & yes, my husband has tried to dissuade me from this idea(but I think he knows that doesn't work by now).  So I bought the book, & we shall see if pet chickens are in our future!

We arrived home from the bookstore just in time to get a call from my daughter Sage's school, saying she was sick in the nurse's office.  Off we went to get her, & now it looks like I am homebound again for awhile. Grateful for the hour or so, I got to get out this morning!

Home From Camp To Blow Out 37 Candles

I got to spend this past weekend with some really cool, (& mature beyond their years) teenagers from church.  We had Winter Camp up in Running Springs...& the topic was dating/relationships & purity.  I must admit I was thinking " what words of wisdom am I going to say about these topics???"...except what not to do when dating!  I was a bit of a wild child as a teenager, & I really didn't want to listen to anyones advice or direction, so I actually admire how these kids handle themselves & the choices they make. It turned out to be a great weekend, & I did have a chance to share a few things from my personal experiences with the girls, that I think they appreciated.

Sunday, the day we were leaving camp, was my birthday.  So on the long drive home(I got us lost a few times), I had a lot of time to think.  I'm glad I did.  Turning 37 is not the most fabulous thing in the world to me, & I have been trying not to have that feeling of dread as I get closer & closer to 40.  Anyway, so driving home I was thinking...how lucky am I, to get to have spent the weekend with these teenagers? To get to spend part of my birthday serving....that is so much better than sitting around thinking about how old I am.  Ha ha.   Then I was just thanking God that I have made it to the age I am now,  cause when I was their age I never would have pictured my life, the way it is now.  So I am looking forward to this year ahead...all 37 years of me!

By the way.....it get's to be kind of a fire hazard with this many candles!

We went a little crazy with the paper heart making, around here....

Happy February!
