Sales Lady

The art fair was yesterday, in Santa Ana.  We were blessed with great weather (80 degrees in late November)...I had been praying & hoping it wouldn't rain. Many thanks to my husband-guy who helped me set up, & sat there with me the whole day, except for those moments he'd venture off to the food trucks for a snack.  All in all, I'd say it was a good experience & I got a lot of good feedback.  Some random things : I noticed that a lot of guys seemed to like my clay dolls/figurines, & would pick them up & kind of examine them...I heard the word awesome a few times.  Also, this one lady was telling me she works at a domestic violence shelter & then said "Should I be worried?  All of your art has such sad faces".   I told her I  just like to draw that way(besides I don't think they all look sad), but then she said they were really cute.  Ha ha. I met lots of interesting people.  Also, some friends stopped by throughout the day & that kind of made the day go faster & my parents came & finished the day with us.  Good day, kind of long...but good!

A funny little observation of mine(about the picture above)...I don't know if it's the way the light is hitting or what, but geez my forehead looks big...like my hairline is receding.

Buttons/Badges/Brooches/Whatever

Hello there.  I am finishing up some little accessories, whatever you want to call them, because the Patchwork Art Festival is tomorrow.  I will be up bright & early, to get my do-dads ready.  Once I am all set up, we have to wait for awhile for it to open...I keep thinking, I don't know if I can sit still that long...I may have to wander about.

Pumpkin Pie Hangover

Vegan Pumpkin Cream Cheese Pie
It's the day after a great Thanksgiving holiday here.  We have so much food leftover & I was worried we wouldn't have enough!  Before all the festivities, Sage & I went out for a morning jog.  I think that may have counteracted all the food I ate just a tiny bit.  But I am trying to convince my brain to exercise this morning, & so far it's not happening. My parents came to eat, & spend the day with us, & of course the kids loved that.  Here are some photos of our day.

My sous chefs...India is only allowed to cut with a butter knife though

As you can see, I got out my best china :)

Oranges & Reds

Yesterday I was out with India, while the rest of the clan stayed home, trying to get most of our Thanksgiving food shopped for.  I had a goal...to get it done in as few stores as possible.  We went to two stores, but couldn't manage to find all our ingredients & bummer, our main course "Tofurky" was nowhere to be found. Looks like we are in for more grocery shopping.  I was feeling very Fall-ish yesterday, & was thinking it was the perfect Fall day, wind blowing some, colored leaves, holiday feast shopping.  So I was driving around like the crazy lady I sometimes am, snapping pictures of trees while driving :)

This girl is just a little something I made for fun...maybe I'll stick her on our Thanksgiving table, when we eat.

This road is headed back to my place. I am lucky to have these mountains & hills all around me.  A lot of times I am thinking about moving somewhere else, & how great that place is going to be.  But when I stop & look around me here, it's really quite pretty where I am now! So my great Fall day, ended up giving way to pouring rain, & we ended up spending the afternoon & early evening all over the place looking at used cars...fun stuff.  But at least I had my morning :)

P.S.  I am loving this song...Roll Away Your Stone   It reminds me of my brother, of myself too.

"It seems that all my bridges have been burned,
But, you say that's exactly how this grace thing works,
It's not the long walk home
that will change this heart,
But the welcome I receive with the restart"

Miyoko

A new creation named Miyoko.  I had fun making her & like the way she turned out, with her kind of mad little, slightly pensive expression.

Santa B

I am a tiny bit stiff today, but not bad(not nearly as bad as I expected)!  We were in Santa Barbara the last few days, with friends, & did a half marathon there, yesterday.  Running is always an interesting thing for me.  As much as I am a planner, I kind of go into my running ventures a little half-assed, I have to say.  Meaning no rigorous training schedule, not too much concern over how fast I will be, etc.  Which is good, since I am not incredibly speedy.  Anyway, I always manage to finish & have a good time.  I've found in those challenging moments in a race, where you feel like you can't or don't want to go any farther(believe me I have many),  that is when I rely on God.  Whether I am thanking Him for all the lovely scenery that is around me, or reminding myself about how blessed I am to have my health & body & be able to run...or just praying "please get me up this hill" it's some of those moments I feel Him the most.

It was a good trip...now I am looking forward to whatever our next race will be.  I have a few ideas & who knows maybe I'll get a little more serious about the training one of these days :)

Brainstormin'

Thinking of ideas of stuff I'd like to make... & wrote a couple down.  I don't know how much stuff to bring to this art fair I am selling my stuff at...I only have a 5 x 5 ft. space.  Anyway, I'd like to do a darker, more Burton-esqe (Tim Burton, that is), or Coraline kind of clay doll.  Kind of like the one, Wren, I did awhile back.  On a side note....the makers of Coraline are making a new film,  ParaNorman ....can't wait to see it :)

A little painting of mine, on top of my sketch/ideas book.

I had a plan for these little trees, it just hasn't come about yet.  Maybe I will make my doll with a tree coming out of the top of her head soon(that was the thought), or maybe it will turn out being something entirely different.

Here Come The Indians

Here is my first Indian picture of the Thanksgiving season.  I'm sure there will be more to come :)

1st Gift

Happy November!  These are a few pics of the last of our October. Here is Persimmon in her Halloween dress, I couldn't resist...it was on sale for about $2, at the pet store.

They had a fun Halloween, & got loads of candy.  I was happy we didn't trick-or-treat for hours, it was just long enough.  Then we went to get Thai food with my parents & brother.  Yum :)

Today I took down my Halloween stuff, & brought out the Thanksgiving decor(which I realized I have far less of).  I feel official, out with one holiday & in with another.  Also, I bought my first Christmas gift, nothing huge, it's some Scottie Dog stationary for my Grandma...who has a hefty little Scottie named Buddy.  Anyway, I feel good, one present down & however many more to go.
