Faces

As this long weekend is coming to an end,  I'm just trying to finish up a few little art pieces.  Been busy inside, while the husband-guy has been working away, trying to resuscitate his car...I feel bad for him, I wish it would just run good for awhile!

We somehow managed to get a lot in, even though me & a couple kids were sick the past few days.  Did a little exercise, went to a BBQ, & visited downtown Santa Ana for the Patchwork Art/Craft Festival yesterday....thank God for Dayquil :)  I  decided the art fair might have been one thing too many, when I was experiencing chills & then hotflashes there....ended up going home & curling up in bed.

At the Patchwork Festival...

Had to take a pic of this van.

Some clay faces I have been making.  One ending up going in a tin container I decorated, that can be hung on the wall.  The other may end up being a brooch(don't know yet).

Baldy with ears, soon to get hair.  My bedspread makes a good background, don't you think?

15 Days

Oh man, my wonderful first-born is driving me crazy!  I think we are all ready for school to be over.  Suddenly it seems, she can't remember hardly any of the math she's learned over the year...so homework time is super fun.  So there are 15 official school days left, & I am happy things are winding down.  Slowly but surely, some of my school year commitments are ending.  We just need to get through the end of the year parties, plays, dances, & all will be good.  Looking forward to more time to go where the wind blows us, more time to create, also some fun trips on the horizon :)

I made this painting/collage over yesterday & today.  She is painted with acrylics & watercolors & her hair & part of her dress are collaged paper.  I was having a hard time coming up with a title....ended up calling it Miss Augustine.

Inspiration All Around

I am loving this Nike poster, I made myself a smaller copy & it's going right on my wall.  It totally inspires me to run, & once I do get out there,  I enjoy it...it's the getting out there, that is sometimes hard.  So this is my reminder :)

I made this girl yesterday.  I saw this pretty dark skinned doll online, & was inspired to try & make one with a darker skin tone myself.   Here she is...I named her Naomi.

Makey Make

Just putzing around here.  I have been making a couple of clay faces, experimenting with them for pins/brooches.  I just sprayed them with sealer...I think I accidently inhaled half of it(that's where my brain cells have gone:)  Just have to put the finishing touches on them.

My daughter, Sage, had to make a "trash to treasure" project for her school.  I thought it turned out really cute.   She made a Pug dog out of an empty Nutella jar, & covered it with tan napkins, we photocopied a Pug face.  It has a little beer cap around it's neck with it's name "Pugsley" written in it.

Sweet Day

How I wish everyday was like this one.

No school, no meetings, everyone getting along, sunny skies. My kids served me breakfast(Peanut Butter with flax seeds on toast), in bed...well, except for Cody, who was too engrossed in Super Hero cartoons. Then we headed out to a nearby trail & did 3 miles.  After exercise, we went to the town of San Juan Capistrano. I love this place. There are some great little shops, some have Mexican folk art, some antiques, etc. & lots of cool restaurants there. There is also this little historic street by the railroad tracks, with old houses & lovely plants, & the occasional rooster walking around....

Retreat

I am back from a weekend get away in the Palomar mountains(near San Diego).  So I sometimes have reservations about going on trips like this. You know...ice breakers, sometimes awkward "spill your guts" sessions, shacking up with a lot of people, crammed into close quarters. Ha ha. But I like to make myself get out of my comfort zone every now & then & just do it.  Anyway, it ended up being fun, had some good conversations, met some new people, went hiking...even went on the zip line(which I was pretty scared to do).  The interesting thing about the whole place was when I got there, I realized I had been there 20 years ago, at high school summer camp with my church.  So we would be at certain spots in the camp, & I would be having flash backs of hanging out there before, all those crazy years ago.

Emerson

Hello.  Here is my new girl, Emerson.  I still have a few finishing touches(like finishing her hair in the back). Thought I would show her though...
